Webelos "Derby" Day and Troop Campout - 2011

For this year's "Webelos Derby Day", we were expecting a large turnout  so we selected the location to be Rocky Woods in Medfield.  In addition, we offered a Saturday night overnight campout for the Troop.

The Troop arrived early to set up our activity stations and our cooking fires before the Webelos arrived.  Around 10:00am, the Webelos and their parents began to arrive.  Mr Derian welcomed them, and SPL Nick split the Webelos into two groups and sent them off to their activity stations.

Fire Building station

Friction Bridge and Cross the Creek stations

Catapult station

Compass Course

Wilderness Shelter Building station

Smooshboard Course

The final station was for the Webelos and Boy Scouts to make their own "tin foil" lunch of carrots, potatoes and chicken.  These were then cooked over the fires until done.  They must have been hungry because as you can see from most of these pictures, nearly everyone was finished eating by the time I took these pictures.  After lunch, SPL Nick thanked the Webelos for coming and dismissed them to their parents.

Several of the Troop 10 Scouts stayed on to camp overnight.  Before cooking dinner, they performed two conservation projects at Rocky Woods.

A good time was had by all !!!   Many thanks for the adult support for Webelos Day, and to the adults who stayed overnight with the troop.
